![]() ![]() You've got to do the research on your own to seek out the real answers. It's a shame, but it's all about ratings these days, which is also why you rarely get the truth in the majority of news stories. All they care about now is getting turned on during the weather report, and what the weather means in terms of their daily schedule. Most Americans would rather remain ignorant than educate themselves w/ vast meteorologial knowledge. It's all part of the dumbing down of society. If you move out to Oklahoma City, etc., that's entirely different story. In all honesty, in NYC, a station can get away with mediocre forecasting. Some are thriving on this and some are dying on this. Folks, this is not about who can forecast and who can't it's about money, looks, money, and bringing in cheaper, newer talent. The $250,000 (not saying this was John's salary) are for the most part, long gone. I knew he had a grueling job of doing double over the weekend, but he was making much more than what any station wants to shell out. Although I do not know the exact figure, I know a lot probably more than I should. You are kidding, right? First off, everyone that has ties to the talent know that most all (especially NBC) talent had been getting way over-payed and this included John. Goes to show you how the people running things are truely clueless. He went to Kean, as I did, and he should get more respect than this. Here is a good read on the subject below and is the reason I am pissed that a good MET like John Marshall got the boot twice. Yet, the TV stations try to pull this crap over on the general public by introducing them as "meteorologists". Funny, we all know they are readers and not real METS. Well, interesting news has finally come out after the recent "weather reader" hirings in NYC. īy the way, hard to believe but Frank Field is nearing 90 years old. There are three active anchors in NY who can say that: Mr.G, Ernie Anastos, and Kaity Tong. But there are no openings so he may be screwed. He wants to stay in NYC, as anyone would. If he doesnt bring home the bacon, it would be rough times for them. When i worked with him at WNBC, when i was a wx producer there, she would call him all the time about the kids. Not sure why, but at least he'll be working. ![]() I read Marshall may fill in at PIX this week. Mr G would be finished, he could never go to another station with his style. But I know the company that owns PIX is failing so who knows. around 36-37 years old KTVT CBS 11 producer Kyle Weeks moves over to WFAA. I like Jodi Applegate and I think it is still better than fox 5. a Salary Range of 100k-200k Meteorologist Remeisha Shade has joined FOX. I know PIX just totally re-did their news format which really upset many people. Then linda from the AM said she wanted to move to weekends and they cut Joe. I remember when PIX11 had the great Joe Cioffi. Feel sorry for John, as WPIX is in bad shape and I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually dump the weekend newscast as My9 has done. Well, when news directors see low ratings, they throw something at the wall and hope it sticks. ![]()
